  • Do you mean Bambi's father?

    November 7, 2008

  • Are you implying that Bambi is some sort of cervine messiah?

    November 7, 2008

  • Hee hee. I just thought Bambi's father looked rather god-like in the movie.

By the way--have you ever seen Bambi Meets Godzilla?

    November 7, 2008

  • Speaking of deer...I saw a doe running around the property this morning like a chicken with its head cut off --until I noticed that a buck was in hot pursuit. She was really frantic, at one point taking cover on the patio just outside my office. That's when we both saw the buck. He was on a mission and took off after her like a shot. They both disappeared beyond the "back 40." Kids thesedays...

  • dontcry, what's the 'back 40'?

skip, I saw it! Years ago on TV! Thanks for the link, what a nostalgia hit!

    November 7, 2008

  • Our "back 40" is a couple of acres of land we own behind the house. Mostly open space with some fruit trees, berry bushes, ground hogs... It usually refers to a large piece of un-spoiled acreage.

    November 7, 2008

  • Ok, beaut, I'm all for groundhogs :-)

But what does the 40 actually refer to? 40 acres? Seems largish.

    November 7, 2008

  • Like in the phrase 40 acres and a mule. :)

edit: it originated as acres, but like dontcry says above, it isn't often used literally anymore.

    November 7, 2008

  • It's a figure of speech referring a large parcel of land that's sort of out of the way.

    November 8, 2008

  • Not to be confused with sweat Jesus.
